Description

The Afrika-Schild is a potential alliance between the three German Reichskommissariats in Africa after the German Civil War breaks out that forms before the outbreak of the South African War and the Boer Republic will joining in when Reichskommissariat Ostafrika declares war on South Africa. Unlike other German territories, it is considered separate from the Einheitspakt after its formation, and as such, Germany can send support and volunteers if the war in Southern Africa is still going after the end of the German Civil War, and Burgundy can potentially support the Afrika-Schild but focus more support to Huttig's Ostafrika.

In-Game

Scenarios

After the war, the Schild's fate depends on the outcome:

  • Should the war have ended with the Schild surviving (either due to the Schild winning or a ceasefire being reached), or Huttig take the "Brudermord" focus during the War, the Schild will collapse, as Hans Hüttig will kill Wolfgang Schenck and unsuccessfully attempt to kill Siegfried Müller. He will then annex whatever remains of the three Reichkommissariats and the Schild disbands, replaced by the Großafrikanischer Reichsstaat (Greater African Reich). However, he will be labeled a traitor by whichever leader won the German Civil War, who will also break ties with him, and as a result, Huttig's empire in Africa will be doomed to inevitably collapse after his death.

What happens when the Reichsstaat collapses, depends on how long it was around for:

  • If Hüttig was unable to assert control over the empire and it collapsed quickly, it will form into a number of functional socialist, monarchist and democratic states.
  • However, if it was able to last for a long time, it will collapse into a series of warlord states, in an event known as the 'African Devastation'.
  • If South Africa manages to secure a total victory, they will seize the southernmost parts of the Schild, while the rest is broken up between the Organization of Free Nations Provisional Government of the Congo (Zentralafrika), the Coalition Government of Angola (Angolan part of Südwestafrika) and the East African Interim Unity Government (Ostafrika). These OFN African Mandates can be decolonized into smaller territories by the Organization of Free Nations and the newly independent African countries will become OFN aligned (but not joining alliance) if successful.
  • Alternatively, the OFN can opt to form a single, massive state consisting of what South Africa didn't take, known as the Central African Republic. However, this will always fail, resulting in a super event known as the African Crisis if failing to manage the crisis. During the crisis, there are two paths, the peaceful path and war path. In peaceful path, the CAR can be decolonized into independent African states if the crisis is handled properly but these newly independent African countries will not be aligning with OFN. In the war path, the CAR will be preparing for war against the African rebels and German remnants by relocated to the Eastern parts to the East Africa and will trigger the war between CAR to the east and the forming African Rebels to the west before the crisis occurs. Once CAR defeats the African Rebellion, Westmoreland decides to dissolve the Central African Republic and decolonize immediately, forming again independent African countries and these African states will become OFN aligned.
