Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (Basque Homeland and Liberty or Basque Country and Freedom), commonly known as the ETA, is a Basque separatist paramilitary operating in the Basque region of the Iberian Union. It was founded as a resistance against the oppressive regime of Francisco Franco against the Basque people.
