Helmut Schmidt (born 23rd December 1918) is a German politician and a prominent member of the dissident faction of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, seeking to dismantle Nazi rule and bring back democracy to Germany since the Weimar era. When the German Civil War erupts, he is appointed Foreign Minister by Albert Speer, becoming a member of the Gang of Four. He is a supporter of close ties with the United States against the Empire of Japan and with France against Burgundy.
In-game[]
Schmidt is considered to be the most important person in the Gang of Four. This is made apparent during both of Speer's paths. In the authoritarian democratic path, Speer gets angry at the Gang of Four for trying to reform Germany into a democracy. Schmidt angers him the most, in which Speer believes that Schimdt represents "the collapse of the Aryan man". In the fascist path, Speer defangs Schmidt by appointing Martin Mussgnug his 'co-minister'.
When Speer is dealing with Poland, Schmidt wants to make peace with them. If his proposal is successful, Poland becomes a self-ruling satellite state of Germany and joins the Einheitspakt.
