Kliment Yefremovich Voroshilov (Климе́нт Ефре́мович Вороши́лов) was a Russian warlord and leader of the West Russian Revolutionary Front, one of the most powerful warlords in the former Soviet Union.
As of the current Toolbox Theory update, Voroshilov has been replaced by Alexander Yegorov as the WRRF's leader.
History[]
For Voroshilov, the war never truly ended. Proudly serving the Soviet country even since it's foundation, Voroshilov brought many victories in the name of the Communist Party, with his defense of Tsaritsyn, which would later be named in his honor, being his most famed one. For his valiant feats and simple proletarian character, Voroshilov became one of the most mythologized figures among the soviet people and quickly rose up as the First Marshal under Bukharin.
Even though he couldn't save his motherland when the Germans invaded in 1941, he never gave up his attempts to expel the fascists from Russian soil, even after the people of Muscovy and Ukraine submitted to the Hun. In his exile beyond the A-A line, Voroshilov succeeded to amass the remaining Red forces of West Russia under his banner and to strike a heavy blow against Germany and her lapdogs in Moskowien. So began the West Russian War, which saw the WRRF almost on the verge of victory, but later saw its efforts undermined by the reactionary Russian collaborators and traitors within the front.
Even in his defeat, the resolve of the Marshal remained unbreakable and he never lost his hope that he will eventually see the Red Banner over the Kremlin once again. The old Klim remains a popular figure among the people of Arkhangelsk, but the long years of never ending struggle and long melancholy for his lost motherland have not spared his health. His authority still holds the remnants of the Soviet country together, but as his subordinate generals gain more and more power within their domain and seek to change the Front in their own image, fiercely competing with each other for the influence over the country, who can say what future unfolds for the West Russian Revolutionary Front after Voroshilov dies...
In-game[]
Voroshilov began in control of the West Russian Revolutionary Front at the start of the game, with Ukhta and Plesetsk as puppets, governed by Georgy Zhukov and Mikhail Tukhachevsky respectively. Voroshilov will be forced to choose one of the two to succeed him. If controlled by the AI, Voroshilov is very likely to choose Zhukov (while it is possible for AI Voroshilov to choose Tukhachevsky in the focuses, the accumulation of influence will favor Zhukov more).
After naming his successor, Voroshilov had a mechanic where he will attempt to control who has influence - this can be done through focuses and decisions. At the end of his second focus tree, the West Russian Revolutionary Front will annex the territory of the warlord who was ultimately successful in the struggle, and said warlord will take over command of the Revolutionary Front; the other warlord will declare war, and the player will have to conquer the rebellious puppet.
Trivia[]
- Originally, Voroshilov had three possible successors. Aside from Zhukov and Tukhachevsky, he could also name Alexander Altunin his successor. However, because there was little that distinguished Altunin from other unifiers, Altunin's path was merged with Zhukov's. This may have inspired Zhukov's regional mechanic (where either Alexander Yakovlev, Sergey Akhromeyev or Nikolai Ryzhkov can rise to prominence as his successor, and as a result, the Russia under them can be under Social Democracy, Communism, or Socialism, respectively).
- Back when there was a planned canon for a 1972 start date, Voroshilov canonically chose Zhukov as his successor, who would then go on to unify western Russia by 1972.
