The Kyrgyz Socialist Republic is an independent Central Asian nation. It is bordered by Kyzylorda to the north, Tajikistan to the south, Uzbekistan to the west, and the Xinjiang Clique to the east. Kyrgyzstan is governed by a military junta. The junta's main policy has been keeping Kyrgyzstan neutral and at peace. The junta has been successful so far, but is being increasingly challenged from both without and within.
