La Violencia is a civil war in the Republic of Colombia fought between the central government, radical Liberals and radical Conservatives. It began with the assassination of President Jorge Eliécer Gaitán in 1954. A ceasefire has been in place since 1956, and will hold until 1965, at which point conflict will resume with the participation of a fourth side, the Second Patriotic Army. It is one of the few proxy wars where all three blocs are engaged in war, as well as the Malagasy Rebellion and the Oil Crisis.
Guangdong also plays a part in La Violencia with a PTRG division being sent to support New Granada, that being experimental artillery.
Outcomes[]
Should the Republic of Colombia win the civil war, it will remain unaligned with any of the three blocs. Should the Colombian Revolutionary Union win, it will align with the United States and eventually join the OFN. If New Granada wins, they will shift towards the Co-Prosperity Sphere. If the Second Patriotic Army wins, they will side with Germany and join the Einheitspakt.
