Mikhail Nikolayevich Tukhachevsky, nicknamed the "Red Napoleon," (born 16 February 1893) is a marshal of the Soviet Union and governor of the Plesetsk Military District of the West Russian Revolutionary Front.

Biography[]

Early life and career[]

Mikhail Tukhachevsky was born near Smolensk in 1893. He graduated the Moscow Military Academy in 1912, and enlisted in the Imperial Army in 1914 as a second lieutenant.

Military career[]

Tukhachevsky fought in the First World War. He was captured by German forces in 1915. He escaped four separate times and at one point shared a prison cell with Charles de Gaulle. His fifth attempt succeeded and he returned to Russia. Soon after he returned the Russian Civil War began, and Tukhachevsky joined the Red Army. He lead the Red Army to many victories against the White Army during the war, and became known as one of the best generals in the Red Army. He also participated in the suppression of the Kronstadt Rebellion and the Tambov Rebellion, where he was known for his use of brutal tactics to suppress the rebellions. He lead the Red Army into Poland, but was defeated at the Vistula River. Following the war he was one of the Red Army's leading military theorists, and was made one of the first marshals of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. He pioneered the idea of deep battle, which was the basis of much of the Red Army's tactics.

World War II and aftermath[]

Despite his military skills, the Red Army crumbled under German attack. Tukhachevksy fought valiantly, but he ultimately failed to defeat the Wehrmacht. In the aftermath of the war, he was one of the founders of the West Russian Revolutionary Front. He was at the forefront of the West Russian War, leading a push into Reichskommissariat Moskowien. Tukhachevsky's forces saw many victories, but the Germans ultimately rallied, and the Front collapsed due to internal tensions and power struggles. As the front collapsed, Tukhachevsky gained a deep hatred for Mikhail Suslov, who he blamed for the collapse of the Front.

Present day situation[]

Tukhachevsky stayed loyal to the Front and was assigned as the leader of the Plesetsk Military District. He, alongside his rival, Georgy Zhukov, is one of the likely successors of Alexander Yegorov, leader of the front. Tukhachevsky is more of a militarist than Zhukov, and believes that the Front must focus on it's army and maintain an authoritarian state to defeat the Germans and unite Russia.

In-game[]

As one of the more hawkish unifiers for Russia, Tukhachevsky will need to be named as Yegorov's successor in order to be playable. Most of his focuses will give the player massive military bonuses, making him one of the easiest warlords to unify Russia with. Even the fact that Tukhachevsky cannot unify with any other warlords peacefully at the regional stage or superregional stage does not hinder this.

Quote upon unification[]

Tukhachevsky Soviet Union

Flag that is used after unifying Russia.

"The war can be concluded only with the coming to power of the universal dictatorship of the proletariat, since the world bourgeoisie will not permit the socialist island to live in peace."
