The National Party (Afrikaans: Nasionale Party) is a far-right party in South Africa led by Albert Hertzog pretending to the interests of South Africa's Boer population. Believing in the reinforcement of segregation and apartheid, abandoning the monarchy in favor of a republic, and outlawing inter-race marriage, the National Party enjoys financial backing from the German colonies in Africa.
After their protesters were fired on in an event known as the Cape Town Massacre, the National Party took control of northeastern South Africa and seceded, beginning the South African War.
Trivia
- In real life, the National Party ruled South Africa for the majority of its apartheid era, the policy being something it championed. The transition to republicanism and leaving the British Commonwealth was also a policy of the National Party.
