The New Order: Last Days of Europe Wiki

The Republic of Brittany was a country in Western Europe. It borders the French State to the east, the Bay of Biscay to the south, and the English Channel to the north. The country is a fascist dictatorship, under the control of the Breton National Party (Strollad Broadel Breizh). The head of the PNB, and leader of Brittany is Olier Mordrel. Brittany is a member of the Einheitspakt, and its faction status is being a Mistreiter.

Whether it be British literature, Italian cinema, or American rock and roll, chances are it passes through Breton hands to whoever desires it in Europe. While we are members of the "Unity-Pakt", we hold no delusions in its glory or grandeur, and know that this is merely an alliance of convenience against Burgundy. But while Germany can't touch us and Burgundy grumbles on the other side of France, let the profits flow!

Founded during the Congress of Pontivy on July 3rd, 1940, the Comité National Breton (Breton National Committee) is the governing political body of Brittany. Ever since its inception, the BNC has been dominated by Olier Mordrel and the Strollad Broadel Breizh (Breton National Party), but winds of change are beginning to blow.

On the one hand, Raymond Delaporte, one of the founding members of the BNC, has distanced himself from the SBB, yearning for democracy for the Bretons, and has organized the supporters of democracy into the Strollad ar Vro (Patriotic Party).

On the other hand, Célestin Lainé, the leader of the Bezen Perrot, not impressed with Mordrel's leadership, has been making moves in the shadows cast by his troops.

Should the BNC fail to remain united, the future of Brittany may look very different from what Mordrel has imagined.

The official date of founding for the Bezen Perrot (Perrot Unit), 11th of November, 1940, is celebrated annually throughout Brittany, even if the paramilitary organization has deeper roots in Breton nationalism. Named after Jean-Marie Perrot, a Breton nationalist assassinated by communist partisans, the unit saw much action in their anti-partisan duties during the war. With Germany victorious, the Bezen Perrot had played a crucial role in achieving what countless Bretons in the past had only dreamed of: Liberating Brittany.

Today, the Bezen Perrot has grown from its Waffenverband days into a considerable force, having considerable influence over the armed forces and the defense of Brittany. However, the Bezen Perrot is still considered to be the armed wing of the Strollad Broadel Breizh (having ousted the Bagadoù Stourm from its position as the SBB's paramilitary force), and therefore has much say in the politics of Brittany.

This fact has not eluded the leader of the Bezen Perrot, Célestin Lainé, and with the recent friction between Lainé and Mordrel, the Bezen Perrot may be aiming to gain a majority with the SBB.

Trivia[]

  • Brittany was formerly a playable country. Politically, they had multiple routes the player could take:
    • Olier Mordrel, the starting leader, could've been kept in power to keep up the illegal trade, effectively turning the country into a corporation, with himself as its CEO.
    • Raymond Delaporte was the reformist path, ending the black market trade and returning Brittany to Enlightenment values.
    • Fearing the rise of a left-wing government, Goulven Pennaod could've run for President to reform Brittany into a democratic country under the guidance of the military clique and hold new elections when the mission is complete.
    • Yann Fouéré represented the radical reformist path of Brittany, who would envision the country as a bastion of liberty to inspire the rest of Europe to follow.
    • Célestin Lainé was the most hardline nationalist of the available leaders, either turning the black market into an active force for corruption, focusing on slavery and drugs to destroy the free world from within, isolating the country from all "degenerate" foreign influence via pure autarky (the "Hermit Kingdom" path), or even pursuing Esoteric Nazism, opening relations with Burgundy, which would backfire because the latter would just invade them in an unwinnable war.
  • Brittany has been removed from the Game in Toolbox Theory Uptate. Reason is Breton black market took whole gigabytes of content since every country (including Russian Warlords) could interact with.
