The Spanish Republic is a faction in the Iberian Wars, consisting of leftists, liberals and constitutional monarchists who rebel against the Madrid government and seek to turn Spain into some form of democracy. It begins the war as a functional liberal democracy but can backslide into military rule if the conflict lasts long enough.
