The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was a country located on the British Isles and is currently a government in exile based in Canada.
History[]
Prior to the Second World War, the United Kingdom commanded the largest Empire in world history, with possessions on all continents and millions of people subject to the British Empire. During the First World War the United Kingdom and its empire fought with the Entente against the Germans and Central Powers. They emerged victorious from the war and forced the Treaty of Versailles on Germany. Through the interwar years Britain grew pacifist and when Adolf Hitler re-militarized the Rhineland, Britain chose not to intervene.
This trend continued until the German invasion of Poland. The British along with the French reluctantly declared war but did nothing. When France fell the British army was surrounded and destroyed, crippling Britain's ability to fight. The Germans later launched Operation Sea Lion, invading, occupying England and the rest of Britain. This led to the government fleeing to Canada and the collapse of the British Empire. British Africa was partitioned between the Italians and Germans. British Asian territories were taken by Japan, while India declared independence. Only the few British territories remaining in the Atlantic and those territories are currently controlled by Canada. The British government in exile still persists in Canada and works with the British resistance to free the homeland from the British collaborationists and the Germans.
